The market runs every Saturday at 18901 8th Avenue NE, and August is high season — the tomato-and-dahlia stretch of the year. It continues weekly into December, but it will never be more abundant than right now.
Saturday, August 8, 5 to 8 p.m.
Historic downtown's galleries and shops keep their doors open into the evening for the monthly art walk. A fine excuse to stroll Front Street at the hour the light gets good.
Tuesday, August 11, 6 to 8 p.m.
Live music at the Muriel Iverson Williams Waterfront Park, free and open to everyone. Blankets, picnics, and lingering encouraged.
Night of August 12 to 13
Not a town event, strictly speaking — more of a regional amenity. The Perseids peak under a new moon this year, the darkest and best conditions in ages. Look northeast, be patient, make a wish or several.
Friday to Sunday, August 14 to 16
Three days of handmade arts and crafts, live music, and demonstrations at the waterfront park — Friday noon to 6, Saturday 10 to 6, Sunday 11 to 5. Free admission, all ages.
Through August 31
Last call for Kitsap Regional Library's Bound for the Stars: finish your reading goal by month's end to claim your shirt or pin and enter the prize drawing. Free books for young readers continue at the branch while the program runs.
