This space is reserved for the best thing this paper will ever do: sitting down with the people of Poulsbo, one at a time, and writing their stories down for good.
In each edition, Neighbor to Neighbor will visit with one resident — longtime or brand new, celebrated or wonderfully ordinary. The retired teacher. The harbormaster. The kid who fixes bikes in his driveway. The woman who has kept the same garden for forty years and the family that just unpacked its last box. Everyone in this town arrived here by some road, and every one of those roads is a story.
These will not be interviews in the stiff sense. They will be conversations — about how someone came to Poulsbo, what they have seen change, what they hope never changes, and what this place means to them. Each one will be written with care, checked for accuracy, published with its subject's blessing, and kept in the Ledger's permanent archive, where a grandchild or a great-grandchild might someday find it.
Which brings us to the invitation: we need your help finding the first neighbor. Nearly every good profile begins the same way — with someone else saying, quietly, you really ought to talk to so-and-so. So: who should this town know better? Who has a story worth keeping? It takes two minutes to tell us, and nominations stay between us. We always ask a neighbor's permission before writing a word.
