Word reached us this week that the orcas were back in Liberty Bay. Those who were near the water say they worked close to the docks we all call the nursery, where the harbor seals bring their pups this time of year, and that at least one seal did not come out of it.

The seal hunters are the Bigg's killer whales, a different crowd altogether from the salmon-eating Southern Residents who pass through, and they have been paying us more visits than they used to.

We are always glad to see them. We would be gladder still if they took their supper somewhere else.
